A new observation tower of 18 meters high, will allow visitors to appreciate the frequent species of birds in the National Wildlife Refuge Mixed Caño Negro.
Additional to this tower, Caño Negro just opened a visitor center, a new dock and a land trail. All these works were funded by the Project for Strengthening the Sustainable Tourism Program in Protected Wild Areas, better known as the BID (Inter-American Development Bank) Tourism project.
The BID Tourism project has invested around $13 million in infrastructure within protected wilderness areas and more than $1.3 million in improving access routes to these national parks and wildlife refuges.
This year also the infrastructure of the national parks Irazú volcano, Arenal volcano, Corcovado and Cahuita have been improved for the enjoyment of all visitors.
