You will get picked up to your hotel in Monteverde, to arrive to the reserve, and start to hike for a cause. This guided 4 hour tour takes place in the Santa Elena Cloud Forest Biological Reserve It is managed by the administrative board of the Santa Elena Public High School and a percentage of the money raised is destined for the education of the youth in the community.
This reserve holds a vast biological diversity and it is of great importance for the Monteverde area. It is located on the Tilarán mountain range, and was founded in 1992. Within the 310 hectares in the Santa Elena Cloud Forest, you can find the water springs of Chiquito and Caño Negro rivers, which along the Aguas Gatas, constitute a great percentage of the water that feeds the Arenal hydroelectric power station.
It is highly recommended to wear hikig shoes, comfortable clothes, hat, use sun block and insect repellent and bring a camera.
