Buena Vista Lodge is located on the outskirts of Rincon de la Vieja Volcano, in the Guanacaste Province, 31 Kms (20 miles) from the city of Liberia and about one hour from Daniel Oduber International Airport. This property stands between 400 and 1200 meters above sea level and it offers beautiful views of the Guanacaste plains, the volcano and the Papagayo Gulf, including some spectacular sunsets. Buena Vista is a cattle raising Hacienda of 2000 acres that has set aside some 1400 acres for reforestation.
The remaining 600 acres are used as cow pastures and to develop ecological and adventure tourism. This Lodge and eco-adventure center offers 80 rooms of different categories. Each room has a private bathroom, hot water and a fan. There are no televisions or telephones in the rooms. Stone rooms are for guests looking for inexpensive accommodation; the Hacienda style rooms are close to the reception area and the pool; the Cabin style rooms are conveniently located near a resting area equipped with cozy hammocks and the Lake view rooms offer stunning views to the Pacific Ocean and the green tropical forest.
The lodge also offers different restaurant options. El Horcón is located near the reception area and offers an international cuisine, buffet style. In La Montaña Restaurant, guests can savor a local cuisine and get a feel for the flavor of the region. Coati Bar & Restaurant, located close to the reception area, offers a casual ambiance in a traditional ranch setting. El Mirador Bar & Restaurant service is only available for special or private events and it is the perfect spot to enjoy the sunset and watch the birds find their final roost for the evening. Finally, the Ficus Café & Bar, close to three thermal water pools, offers a snack menu.
In Buena Vista Lodge guests can hike through the trails, ride horses, explore the waterfalls, relax in the hot spring Spa, enjoy the aerial trail and zip line or slide through the forest in a 425 meter water slide. In addition, there are some other more restful activities such as cooking classes, cow milking lessons or crafts and jewelry making classes with recycled materials. Other services include: welcome cocktail, access to Hot Springs (transportation not included), self guided hikes, laundry service, free Internet access and Conference Center for meetings or any other kind of event.
