Pacuare River is one of the top five rafting rivers in the world and the best white water rafting river in Costa Rica due to the amazing scenery it offers and of course, its thrilling rapids. Almost all vacation packages to Costa Rica include this unforgettable experience, since it can be done as a one day adventure from San José or can also be combined with a 3 or 4-night stay in one of the lodges immersed in the forest surrounding the river.
Located on Costa Rica’s Atlantic slope, Pacuare River borders the Talamanca mountain range, which is home to native Cabecar inhabitants and an incredible variety of wildlife including toucans, jaguars, ocelots, monkeys and a lot of bird species.
Anyone with normal healthy physical condition can be part in this adventure; however, swimming experience is needed. The rafting distance is 14 miles and it takes between three and a half and five hours to complete the ride, depending on the water level.

What to bring? Rubber-soled shoes that can get, swimsuit, waterproof sunscreen lotion, hat, croakies or straps to secure glasses, clothing change.
